Dalat & Nha Trang
After the Visiting the Mekong Delta, we headed north Da Lat, in the highlands, and then east to Nha Trang on the South China Sea coastline.

Leaving Saigon on an "open bus" to Dalat
At the morning rest stop, we got some goodies
Most public (bathroom) sinks have a communal comb.
We saw caged monkeys several times during our trip. They were not happy campers.
View from the bus window, getting pretty high up.
People still carry almost anything on a scooter out here.
View from Dreams Hotel in Dalat. Thanks to Chad for the photo.
Neato alleyway.
The swastika on this coffin is clockwise, and in Buddhism represents resignation
One of the highlights of Da Lat is that we finally rode scooters on our own.
We took a spin around the lake.
Then I coaxed Dave into trying some roasted corn. Big mistake. (Photo by Chad)
Sun setting over Xuan Houng Lake in Dalat.
Chad took this photo of me setting up for a shot.
Here is the photo. At the Linh Son Pagoda.
Not sure, but the burn marks may be from incense.
A strange building across the street from the Pagoda.
Agriculture mixes freely with housing.
Another Pagoda, right down the street from our hotel.
I tried sua dau nanh (hot soy milk) a specialty of Dalat, from a cart.
Dalat was once known as "Le petit Paris" & has a miniature Effiel tower.
After a nights' rest, we were back on a bus to Nha Trang.
The roads through the mountains were narrow and windy.
Rice fields.
We took a rest stop at one of the Cham tower sites. Built between 7th-12th cent.
Chad ran up with 5 minutes to spare to take a few close ups. See Shiva?
Nha Trang is your quintessential beach town. Too bad that's not my thing...
We had lunch with Alex & Christina, who are from Spain. We tried boar &am...
Do we all look full? Well we definitely were.
Feet, meet the South China Sea.
Chad poses for a "beauty shot."
Xe om, again.
Chad about to take a picture of me.
Chad's photo of me having just taken a photo of him.
Dave at the giant sleeping Buddha at Long Son Pagoda.
I wonder what he's dreaming about.
I remember the guides saying we could ring this bell...

A giant seated Buddha, 14m tall. You can see from all over the city.
The view from the platform of the seated Buddha.
Back in the city.
This at the main open market in Nha Trang.
Walking around amongst the stalls of the market.
We wandered until we found food.
This is Vu. He made me a Dragon Fruit (thanh long) shake. Yummy.
We took a sleeper train from Nha Trang to Danang - Instead of a bus.
From Danang we shared a taxi with some fellow travellers to Hoi An.
We were held up a bit by one of the locals...
