Block the Horse
The story came from the Song Dynasty, when there was border skirmishes. The brave Miss Yang prepared to go to the enemy's land as a spy under the order of her Master. She disguised herself as a man. She was on her horse well on her way when a famous general of Song Dynasty came to stop her. The general disguised himself as an inn owner. He tried to convince her to stay in his inn. The plan was to get the symbol Miss Yang was carrying on her belt because the symbol was the pass to enter the enemy land. The fight started. Both of them were well trained. They soon realized that they actually were from the same side. The resolution was that one masqueraded as a master, and one as the servant, in which case a single pass would be enough to enter the territory.
Mr. Zhong-Kui marries his sister
The story originated from the Tang Dynasty. Mr. Zhong-Kui and his good friend Mr. Du-Ping were going to Beijing to take the high official exam. Mr. Zhong died unexpectedly. Mr. Du was in great grief. He put everything aside and buried his friend. Mr. Zhong remained earth bound. He became a ghost and wanted to pay the favor back to his friend. Mr. Zhong had a pretty sister. He decided to make the match between his sister and Mr. Du. He did everything to make the process work. In ancient China, the bigger the dowry, the more important the bride was . Mr. Zhong managed to gather together a large dowry for his sister. In order to protect the goods and people from being robbed, Mr. Zhong and his other ghost friends stood side by side the troop on the wedding day. He overcame all sorts of obstacles and assured the safety of the event.
God came to give us fortune
This little piece is from the ancient history of China. Before an important event took place, people used to get together to ask God for fortune, happiness and safety.It had become customary to begin a show with this piece.
At the Cross Road
This play is well known in Beijing Opera for its exciting martial arts and display. The story took place in the Northern Song Dynasty .General jiao zen was staying overnight at the inn of this friend Liu Li hua , came looking for his . The innkeeper mistook Ren for a famous villain, who was attempting to assassinate Jiao Zen. At midnight, he sneaked into Ren's roomand tried to capture him. The two men were looking for each other blindly with their sword.Finally the noise of their fighting woke up Jiao Zen who came in and realized the battle was the result of mistaken identity.
The Eighteen Arhats Capture
The Monkey King The story of this opera is based on an episode of a Ming dynasty novel, The journey to West. After the Monkey , Sun Wukong, wreaked havoc in the Heaven, the Emperor of Heaven complained to the Maitreya Buddha about the Monkey . The Bddha dispatched 18 Arhats to capture the Monkey. In the end , the Monkey was captured and subdued under the Wuxing Mountain.
