BIO

Zone began his career as a graffiti writer sometime around 1985/86 in the east county of San Diego.  He was heavily influenced  by San Diego early 80's legends such as K-Way, Izzy, Daze and Sake' and also books of the current era such as Hip Hop an Illustrated History and Subway Art.  Zone observed the the styles of these early pioneers and went home and emulated what he saw on paper.  During one late night blackbook session in 1987, Izzy took Zone under his wing and taught him the fundamentals of the bar lettering style.  He spent a  year developing this style and catching tags before attempting his first piece in 1988. Soon after, Zone teamed up with another up and coming writer from the east county, Shok.  Shok was Zone's first real partner and taught Zone the ins and outs of the yards and how to bring his street bombing to another level.
Zone's style continued to develop into in the late 80's with heavy influences from San Diego Kings such as Raid, Quasar, and Zeno.  The late 80's and early 90's also brought influence from LA kings such as Charlie DTK, Risky WCA, and Dream SMD. During the late 80's into 1990 Zone pieced all the San Diego Yards running at the time and also did early freeway pieces. Crews repped during these periods were, TPS, AFP, VCR, NSA, SDK and TMK.   Career choices Moved Zone out of San Diego  in late 1990 but he never stopped developing and perfecting his style.
In 1992 Zone returned to San Diego from overseas only to find the "tag banger" explosion had taken over the city.  At this turning point in San Diego History it was clear to Zone that a new crew of old school writers needed to be formed in order to preserve the traditional graffiti culture  and values which seemed to fall the wayside with some of the younger generation of writers.  Hence the establishment of Wild Style Technicians (WST). The name was chosen for its emphasis on a strong foundation of letter structure and traditional values of letter style.  Built to last, the crew has withstood the test of time and has held true to its original intent of culture preservation with an exclusive core of only 7 members.  WST continues to produce and evolve to this day, taking pride in productions with polished letter styles always in the forefront.
