There are several types of aisoft weapons including handguns, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles and rocket launchers. All these weapons either use gas, electricity or manual methods of cocking. Handguns are mainly operated with gas. This gas allowes the slide to more back and forth to re-chamber a round after evry shot, just like a real handgun. Shotguns are cocked by hand, again just like a real one and so do the sniper rifles. For the assault rifles, electric power is used. This is more cost effective and allowes easy full-automatic fire.

Airsoft Electric Weapons (AEGs) are true replicas of the real steal. They are contructed using strong, durable plastic known as ABS. They feel and handle like a real firearm. Due to the plastic used these replicas are lighter than their real counterparts but when upgraded using the steal body work they weigh just as much. The internals are, of course, nothing like the real thing. These weapons use compressed air to proppel the 6mm rounds. The compressed air is created from a piston which is powered by a small motor, located in the handgrip, using a 8.4 volt battery. These AEGs can in no way be modified to fire real bullets.

The AEGs are capable of fireing in semi- or in full-automatic rate of fire. BB's are fed into the barrel from the magazine just like a real weapon. Magazines are made out of metal and hold anyware from 58 to 600 rounds of ammo. Non-upgraded weapons shoot at 280fps (feet per second). However, one of the nice things about airsoft weapons is that you can upgrade them in many ways. You can change the internals and make it shoot harder, faster, further and more accurate. For our club the maximum power level for AEGs is 350fps and 400fps for semi-auto sniper rifles. Next to the power upgrades you can change the look of your gun by accesories. These accessories do not always help the performance of the gun but they make it look damn cool.
