Mintage: 4,454,450. Others ('75-S, '76-S) have higher mintages, but this is probably the most commonly found S-mint Seated dime based on my experience, particularly in higher grades. The 1875-S and 1876-S are, in my opinion, a bit underrated in high grades; they are by no means scarce but they are somewhat tougher in nice, problem-free EF and above than the mintage would suggest.

Date Acquired: 12 December 2005.

Variety: F-110.

About This Coin: Got this one pretty cheap (less than VF money) and didn't expect my bid to be hit. The reverse has a die crack at 11:30 coming up from the wreath to the rim. In addition, this coin's reverse has extra metal on the rim from 9:00 to 10:00. I'm not sure if it's a cud or just retained metal from a faulty planchet. This reverse was used in the F-111 and F-111a varieties as well, and F-111a shows some dramatic cuds resulting from die breaks, but they don't appear to be in the same part of the rim as this one.
