Mintage: 1,540,000.

Date Acquired: 20 November 2005.

Variety: F-104?

About This Coin: Bought this one to replace another perfectly nice (but darker and only F-15) coin. Like the example I replaced, I think this coin is probably F-104; the weak lower wreath and the weak denticles on the reverse from 11:00 to 3:00 seem to fit as does the date position. Other than 1891-O, this is probably the most common O-mint dime in grades above Fine; in XF and below, this is probably the only O-mint coin (other than 1891-O) that carries no significant price premium over the Philadelphia coin. As far as the grade, most of it has choice VF and almost XF eye appeal, and if this is F-104 we can't use the reverse wreath as an indication of wear because one of the characteristics of F-104 is a weak lower wreath on the reverse. Overall, if it's F-104 I'd call it VF-30 allowing for the weakness on the wreath.
