Mintage: 4,470,000.

Date Acquired: 21 March 2005.

Variety: F-106. It doesn't show all the die cracks of an F-106, but the left foot of the '1' is gone and the date is in the right place to be Obverse 6, hence the attribution as F-106.

About This Coin: After producing a record number of dimes (and quarters and halves!) in 1853, the Philadelphia Mint "took it easy" and produced only 1/3 as many coins in 1854. Of course, to that point in time it was still the second highest mintage, behind only 1853 and still more than twice the mintage of any other Seated Dime.

This coin has few problems beyond one small gash near Liberty's feet (which this picture makes look much worse than it is) and a nice light gray look to it.
