Buying songs from iTunes
27/09/07 15:03
Have you always wondered how to get
songs from iTunes, and at a cheap price? While the method I'm going
to teach is not exactly un-dodgy, at least you're not stealing
songs anymore!
1. Go to this website: https://www.hogeweg80.com/store/clients/index.php?cPath=74_85

2. Select your preferred value.
3. Have your paypal account readied.
4. Pay with paypal.
5. You'd be directed to a website with your redemption code
6. Open up iTunes store
7. Select redeem

8. Key in details and use any US address (I use vPost USA)
9 You're done! Now you can buy the songs you want!
Purchased 2 vouchers from this site, very prompt replies from hogeweg from problems crop up, and the best thing is...you can finally buy songs!

reminiscing
22/09/07 02:13
It was a time of reminiscing, a session of drinks, and some gossiping. Whilst the music wasn't fantastic to start off with, the atmosphere gradually grow into you and everything seems better after that.
Do I have a fierce and sad face? Family face with a nice girlfriend still are respectable comments, but having a sad face for the night? Maybe.
Nonetheless, a guy friend of mine was relating to his theory of respecting girls. Respect and honor them, and treasure them while they are with you. Hardly the comments you expect out of a guy who has 20 over relationships, or so he claimed, but the years seem to have aged him till the fact that he mellowed down from his younger days. On the surface, he still seem to be the guy that is very flamboyant, feet above in the air type of guy, but from the conversations with him, I can see that he indeed has tried his best to commit, albeit failing.
I guess one should never judge another by the looks (they all say I look uniquely Singapore, and not the every other face you can see) on whether he has changed over the years. Words alone sound hollow when you don't put action into play. As much as he says he respects girls, it seems like he still hasn't learnt the importance of respecting the other party. Fresh from a breakup, he indulges on binge drinking for the 3rd day running, probably trying to seek solace among familiar friends. Drinking does help to relieve pain, to a certain degree, but shouldn't he also learn more about patience and understanding, when it matters?
Somehow, it didn't surprise me when the whole table of guys were cheering me on when they snatch my wallet and see me and my girlfriend's photo, and everyone of them is single. Judging from their choice of drinks, they all choose a variety of drinks rather than sticking to a favorite, whilst for me, 2 small bottles of Tuborg (there is no Stella to choose from, damn!) suffice.
Drinks ahoy!
A really simple lesson for RSS
21/09/07 15:41
Well, almost everyone has heard about
RSS, but what is that all really about? To put it really so simply
across, it is just a simple way to stay updated with your friends'
blogs, news site, and all sites that support RSS. The good thing
about a reader is that it allows all your subscriptions to be
updated all at one place, without you having to click on every
individual friend's blog just to check what's new.
Let me help you to set up a simple RSS reader
First, get a RSS client. A good and free reader is Google's RSS reader. Have an account set up for simple access to Google's services.
On the main page

1. Click on Add subscription, and an textbox will appear.

2. For website that supports RSS, normally you'd be able to find the RSS icon, especially blogs. Try looking for it at the address menu.

3. Click on the icon, and a xml address will appear, and this is the address to add to 1.
4. Voila!

For Firefox and Safari users, this is simplified as the reader is inbuilt to your browser. Why don't you consider downloading them just to try this out? I've got a link by the side for Firefox by the way.

Folks, an easier way is to download Safari from Apple, works for both Mac and Windows. Just click on the RSS icon at the right hand side of the URL, click on "+" icon to the left, and you'd be auto subscribed. Simple as that!

grossingly tealicious

I was drinking my cup of latte, which tasted fantastic at first. Considering this is the only green tea flavor drink I have yet to drink from Starbucks, it's worth a try. The horrifying part comes almost at the end.
There was a huge chunk of undissolved green tea powder left.
Tasting it was horrifying, to say the least. Well, not wanting to waste the chunk, I've added some more creamer and hot water to it. 2 cups of Venti size for the price of one? Not funny. Try drinking it and you'd know how I'm feeling now. The only consoling thing is I don't have to pay for the tea
Oh well, thinking a little deeper, how many people actually look at things beyond the surface? Things might appear calm and peaceful at first, only for storms and lightning to strike not long after. Life's full of unexpected surprises sometimes. Imagine the shock I got after I bought my 4d and checking the results, the number I place my bid on was the winning number a week back.
I think the "if only" syndrome has hit me again. Someone bring me a time machine please
In disgust
18/09/07 15:02
It's disgusting how people behave over money, or greed. A friend of mine just died, and I was attending his funeral yesterday. A few hundred people were there gathering trying to find out what's happening. It wasn't helped by the press who blow this matter out of proportion, the fire in the shophouse. It was tough containing my emotions, for my friend could do without the people who were there trying to scent out any numbers for 4d. There was a small fire by the funeral car for a while, and immediately idiotic folks squeezed past me trying to get a view of the happening.
Disgusted.
My mum was saying the large crowd was good, for it make things lively for such an event. At least my friend had a large crowd of people to send him off for his last journey. Nonetheless, couldn't they offer joss sticks to my friend before coming to join in the crowds? It felt so bad back...
Oh well. Life's so unexpected, and life's so fragile. Though he wasn't a close friend, we had some good moments back in camp.
Really hope you can rest in peace from now.
Karma...?

One of the rare days I arrived at work
at 0810, only to realize I'm still late. Well, not exactly late,
but if the main purpose to set off to pass things to boss wasn't
achieved, that's considered late, right? This is one of the days
where the morning just suck
- the ERP gantry set in just 10 seconds later and I'd have saved some cash
- if I have my office pass with me I wouldn't have sat outside the office for an hour
- I left my bus pass at home on top of everything?
Considering that I won toto earlier this week ($20 only) only to contribute back to society today doesn't help my day. OH well. And I'm not the person that'd doing wrong!

Those 2 buggers, not sure whether I'm right or wrong, should be trying to steal parts of the pipe. One of them (an indian) was using a big spanner while the chinese was on the lookout. Seeing this view I immediately tried to snap this picture down, albeit the poor quality. A flash went off from my cam and the indian immediately looked around while I quickly hide from view. Not long after I hear these 2 buggers talking on a walkie-talkie, which sounds like a syndicate instead of some government bodies doing work. It didn't help that it was midnight then and any govt bodies would be working OT if that's they're really from the bodies and the rubbish chute alarm went off this morning and the area was in a mess.
Must be because I didn't report to the police and karma decrees that I have to suffer. Sucks. How come others doesn't suffer retribution that fast as compared to me?

Windows Powerpoint - a necessary evil
12/09/07 16:29

Firstly, the words aren't meant to be read, which is why it is blurred. Notice the difference between the 2? Besides the fonts, there are small comments box at the bottom picture, and this is only viewable with Windows Microsoft Office Powerpoint. This must be the lamest thing Microsoft has done to cripple the Mac version of Microsoft Office, besides the non compatibility of alignment of words and fonts.
Nowadays, people refer to a slide presentation as Powerpoint, but is that correct? It holds true only because of the large number of people using it and it becomes a universally accepted thing, otherwise, it is totally wrong to make use of that word. There are so many versions of programs which does the same thing, and yet due to its monopoly powers Microsoft has to do this to its users? To force people to fire up Windows even though they hate it?
Welcome to the real world...sad, but necessary evil still exist...People always refer switching to Mac as turning to the dark side, how about the reverse?
Time to get a new Mac, just to run Windows to check for problems and consistency :p
Libel...or freedom of speech?
08/09/07 01:54
Sometimes, it is really hard to find
the line between insult and criticism. According to this, the $100 rebate by Apple is actually a farce,
showing off Jobs' financial muscle. Perhaps the reason why I feel
strongly against the writer is due to cultural difference. Though
I'm not familiar with law, I think the content constitute to libel,
and the plaintiff should be able to press charges and insist the
negative remarks be pulled off from the web.
Imagine someone making "constructive" comments about our heads, and comparing that to people comments on Bush. I think the former might earn for himself a jail sentence while millions others will applaud the latter. Oh well, Singapore is a weird country after all, isn't it?

Classic or Touch?
07/09/07 14:26

Well this is old news already, since excitement (if there is any to start off with) should died off within minutes from being announced. Which would you choose? The watered down version of the iPhone or the classic version of the iPod?
It is certainly quite interesting to see how people whine about the technical aspects of the Touch instead of focusing on the plus points. Whilst the Touch has limited memory, it is fast, and has multi touch. People who wants a hdd in the Touch is asking too much, aren't they? The price of nand flash drives are still crazy, and to have 160gig of that of the iPod? That might cost as much as a MacBook, goodness...
Well, people can't be satisfied, right? I'm just hoping that people will buy the Touch for me, ha! Not that interested in the Touch, since iPhone has better features, but then again, iPhone is technically a watered down version of a PDA phone as well...the Ultra series 12.1 still seem a better choice, for now! Okay, enough dreaming for now...
The world of black and white
07/09/07 14:04

In the world of black and white, everything is separated into 2 distinct colors. Okay this sounds like crap, well if everything else is so easily differentiated the world would be a duller place to live in, right? Mum's still sour over the affair with the project group, where I had to bear the bulk of the payment and others are MIAing. A complicated issue, but since it is a verbal agreement someone has to stick out and bear the cost, right?
Spoke to an interesting fella yesterday, who married his current wife after asking her out for 3 or 4 times. Sounds bizarre, but he's a happy father of 3 already. The reason for it? Love at first sight. He claims that when he first met his wife back then it was like he's known/seen her for ages. The same for his wife. Sounds very familiar, *hints* I think I had the same feeling back then too.
Well, is that a good enough answer for what is love?
Fun shot
