All you need is a change of perspective

I used to think HK serials are irrelevant, and non practical. Guys' outings to pubs would be a messy event. No longer.

I guess working must have changed some of my perspective, ha. Fresh out of the cinema from a revisit to Ratatouille, watching shows with the beneficiaries provided me with a new insight to how we can view this world.

Well, put down your prejudices and give something fresh a try Laugh

Group pic

That's Junwei with the ultra serious look. He used to be non-chalent about a lot of things back then, but now he's almost a totally changed guy - except for this definition of love and sex Gasp

Junhui's back in town to settle some rituals for his grandma's funeral. Ziwei's beside him. Well, add the 3 together and it's a night of havoc, with the theme being woman and sex. Quite an interesting perspective from the rest of the guys and I was singled out to be belonging to a group of extinct species.

Oh well. Let it be.

Wala Wala on a Saturday night was interesting. The band performing there was fantastic, according to Ziwei's highly critical acumen. He's swore to come back to visit the female lead vocalist, and as we began to make her the topic of the night, it hit me how much we've changed over these years. From nicks of 纯洁小乖乖 to 小龙女, all kinds of interesting things had changed.

And somehow, I become the Mr Uncle Agony for all the wrong reasons, ha. Somehow, I just had the knack for being there for friends at some point of time where they just need a shoulder to lie on and some ears for complaints. Maybe it's my face. The folks all suan me for having that innocent looking face which could have been used to fool all kinds of people.

We were hit by a roadblock and the police was staring at my face, after my smile the police smiled back and we went on driving back. Ziwei could have failed the breathalyzer if he were to take it then, ha Laugh

Enough of banal talk. The night ended with some food for thought, as I feverishly rushed out the pictures taken. To prove that I was serious about Jay Chou copying me in his new song, this time round, I've got evidence.

Drinking milk on a night's out with guys! I guess next time, anyone asking me out better be careful of the milk issue Winking

A time for cries, a time for laughs, a time for fun, a time for sadness

Wan daughter

哭有时,笑有时,欢乐有时,悲伤有时

This is a quote from 溏心风暴, and it does ring true for many occasions in life. Recently I went to visit my secondary school teacher who text me the next morning after she gave birth. Stepping inside the ward, I was shocked for words seeing her strands of white hair. At that instant, I thought she really aged a lot, seemingly older than my mum. A sourish feeling suddenly overwhelming gushed in me, not knowing how or what to react to.

She initiated the conversation, talking about how her daughter has this enormous appetite and was already the biggest infant in the nursery, at 3.94kg.

Suddenly, it was not so bad after all.

Meeting up with a friend/teacher does spark off memories. For that instant, I suddenly recalled a nick of mine - 书生. Not that I look that nerdish (maybe I did, once Embarrassed ), but memories of fun times spent during secondary school singing 离离远上草 to the tune of 沧海一声笑, those were the times when studying took priority over everything else, unlike now. Troubles aplenty, busy times, complications brewing out of nowhere, who would have thought these issues would cropped up when you were basking in times of youth?

Sometimes you think charitable organizations in Singapore should be honest with their volunteers. While not exactly false, does withholding information constitute to any form of cheating? I was asked recently to help out with a thanksgiving ceremony, taking pictures of the event. Before agreeing, I was already contemplating payment, for thanksgiving doesn't sound very charitable at all. On the actual day, I was shooting with this other guy who has quite nice shots, and the shock of the night came at the end when he spoke to someone about payment.

And I was asked to do it for free. Oh well.

甜的吃,苦的也吃

I guess the quote sums up what we all should be doing. Can't just hope for sweet stuff all the time, since you won't appreciate them as much as after a difficult time.

Enough complaining. A smile from the baby could melt all troubles and bring instant gratification and a big smile to any iron hearted fella.

Congrats!

Canon Photo Marathon

Finally the long awaited event came by, and it was an eventful day, to say the least. Reach Suntec by early 7s, and queueing up for the registration, it was easy to spot lenses and bodies that's on everybody's wish list. After eventually settling down in the waiting room, i was sitting behind a bunch of kids, who were messing around with lenses and bodies.

And those lenses and body could easily cost more than 10k.

Oh my. Kids nowadays are damn rich. To think I only started like this year, with a small budget and a big passion to feed. The themes for the day were announced at every 3 hour intervals, and it was tough, to say the least, handling the equipment and trying to match the themes.

Playtime

Of course, my entry was pretty normal, and nothing fancyful as compared to the creativity of the folks out there among the thousands of competitors. It was still, a piece of homework satisfyingly done up, with the help of a friend. After viewing the entries, I realized I learnt quite a fair bit on perceptions and angles and stories as well.

To sum up, it was a day of learning, and a day of sweat. Satisfying, but tiring. The view from the pathfinder is such that the photographer can only shoot objects and images in front of him, but he or she has to leave his own comfort zone in order to experiment with greatness. It's not so much about just me, it's about everyone else that's to be captured eventually in the images called life.

Stella

Stella
Had a sudden craving for Stella, and since there was this thumping headache, I decided to give myself a treat. Went through to NTUC and finally stumbled on one can in 7-11, without hesitation it was paid for and hurriedly i was on my way home home.

Suddenly, peering into the plastic bag with the can of drink intact, I recalled a funny dream. Particulars are blurry, but I was smirking as I went back home as it struck me how weird dreams can be sometimes.

Oh well, probably just the headache, have to get rid of it somehow...

Heart or greed

亲情本是维系一个家的根本,但现代人往往着眼于金钱利益轻视亲情。一间海味店、一个大家庭,因利益牵引出一场争产风暴。

Heart or greed

Kudos to the script writer and the cast. 60 billion fortune and how money corrupts a tightly knitted family to end up fighting for fortune in the courts. Besides the kinship, there's also the love triangle between the male and female protagonist...

Really worth a shot to watch. Takes some patience as the show starts off at a slow pace, before the overwhelming plots start to throw you off. The most enticing part about this show?

It is too realistic to ignore.

Thought provoking shows are hard to come by. I chatted with a friend just the other day, about what shows that can still ring a bell after a period of time, besides the heart wrenching love stories. This show definitely ranks high up among the top few.

Time for bed, and less time to provoke my tired brain cells Embarrassed

Recent meetings

Been hanging out with a frequency that I've never expected, a surprising change for a homely person like me. Not that it is going to be a permanent change for me, since I still like home sweet home more than usual Happy

There's this talk I had with friends a few days back over how ignorant one can really be. The more knowledgeable a person, the more ignorant the person gets. Sounds contradictory, but there's some truth in this sense, since the more you read, the more you find yourself not knowing it.

Hardly the right time for philosophical talks, ha. One lesson learnt: set mode to picture mode instead of manual for people to shoot you next time Winking

Different

Ever tried drinking milk when your friends are drinking beer? Bringing green tea latte to TCC while the waiter is trying to bring you the menu? Wearing an Apple tee to Microsoft?

Whilist being deliberate, I wonder whether the mindset is due to the lengthy immersion of "SMU" think different philosophy. Junwei and Ziwei were engaging in intellectual talks about Socrates and stuff while I'm trying to make sense of it all. Being quizzed on the questions my answer is too out of the box instead of sticking to what that is given.

I guess we should always think of alternatives, don't we?

Balls to you!
