Welcome!

You are now at the introduction page to Carpathia, a CJ series on Simtropolis!

What's a CJ?

Ah, good question! A CJ is a "City Journal." The basis for a CJ is pictures from the video game, SimCity 4. Many people choose to just showcase their SimCIty work. Other's choose to set a story to their city pictures. The latter is what I have done. The result here is a culmination of my work: The New Carpathia Confederation of Planets.

The New Carpathia Confederation of Planets: Rise of the Overlord

This story is an odd one. I didn't start it as a story. It began as a vehicle to showcase the rebuild of a medium SC4 city tile. I guess I can't resist a story, and slowly but surely, a story started to sprout from it! The characters are original despite the fact that their avatars are not. The exception is Melkor. He's mostly taken from The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. The story is a collage, so to speak, of my own original work and bits from other stories. Parts of it lack continuity, particulary at the beginning since I never intended this to turn into a story to begin with.

Winner of Most Chaotic City 2006 and Best Science Fiction CJ 2007. Inducted into the Simtropolis CJ Hall of Fame in 2008.

The New Carpathia Confederation of Planets II: Destiny's Call

Carpathia II is all story and nearly 100% original. The only non-original parts are those added for humorous purposes or carry-overs from Carpathia I before being written out. Character avatars are unchanged as well to preserve continuity between Carpathia I and II.

Winner of Best Story in a CJ 2008 and runner-up for Best Science Fiction CJ 2008

Carpathian Short Stories

Short Stories is a collection of stories which are only very indirectly related to Carpathia II. It's best read after reading the first 20 episodes of Carpathia II. Don't read it if you haven't even started on Carpathia II. Half of it won't even make any sense to you if you do.

Winner of Best Short Stories 2008
