Toward a Digital Aesthetic: the Art of Yolanda V. Fundora; Museum of Contemporary Art, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The show opened November 5, 2004 and closed January 23, 2005. Click here to view the press release for the show.

One of the most exciting moments of this event for me was getting to the Museum to prepare for the evening's opening night activities and seeing one of two Museum banners announcing the exhibit mounted on the ironwork around the Museum's grounds.

 

2004

Print Exhibition during the Sixth International Conference of Women Writers from the Spanish Caribbean. April through May 2004.Hostos Community College, The City University of New York.

Participated in a panel of artists exhibiting work at the Segundo Encuentro de Artistas Latinoamericanos (the Second Encounter of Latin American Artists) which took place at Queensborough Community College, CUNY, Bayside, NY on Friday, May 7, 2004. This event was sponsored by the Revista Virtual de Cultura Iberoamericana.

A show to celebrate the Museum's new building which showcased the works on paper in the Museum's Collection.

This is a picture of a violin painted by the artist for the New Jersey Art Strings 2004, an annual fund raising event for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Click here for more information.

 

This violin was also prominently featured in the lifestyle cookbook: Sacred Space: Princeton Parties, Gatherings and Celebrations by Debbie Tunnell.

1996

The colored pencil drawing, Autoretrato/ autocrítico (1984) was used for the cover of Women Writing Culture, edited by Ruth Behar and Deborah Gordon. University of California Press, January 1996. (This is a wonderful book available readily on the internet.)

Homenaje a Sarita Montiel. Exhibited in Arte y Comunicación, MACPR. Collection Lilliana Ramos Collado.

Nuevas adquisiciones at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Juan Puerto Rico. 1991 Exhibition to introduce newly acquired work in the Museum's Permanent Collection.

1983

Los Colores del Tiempo at the Art Students league, San Juan, Puerto Rico. First one-woman art show. Show comprised of 24 pastel landscapes of the island of Puerto Rico in its many moods. I had just moved there a year before from Syracuse, NY. ( A very cold and grey town) and spent the year getting to know the intense beauties of the island through these drawings.
