The Long Journey Home
The
Long Journey Home is a series of 23 prints begun on the Summer solstice
of 2002 and ended in May of 2003.
"Home"
to me is the state of grace, the place from which all creativity
flows. After the events of 9/11, fear tried to oust many people
from their natural homes physically and psychically. This is pretty
much a visual diary of working through the ravages of fear within
me and all around me to return to a semblance of grace and well-being
within myself and within my community.
This
series was begun after a meeting with a group of artist friends
for lunch on my porch on the solstice of 2002. Living in this latitude,
one is very aware of the coming and the going of light, and one
turns to the sun like a flower. This series is an invocation of
that ceaseless solar energy. On that day, I began that series which
would end on the following Summer solstice.
