A Garden Alphabetized (for your viewing pleasure) Series
There is something
inherently comforting about the amassing of objects of a certain
kind. In my case I like to collect flower faces with the help of
my digital camera. I like to get up close and personal to see what
insects find so attractive. So I go to nurseries, gardens big and
small, flower shows, my friends gardens and I try my own botanical
experiments all just to get on intimate terms with the flowers.
Borrowing loosely
the ways of the Victorian naturalists, who through collecting and
labelling attempted to make sense of the infinite wonders of the
natural world, I have devised a system strictly based on the alphabetization
and numbering of the flower images as they reveal themselves to
me within a temporal framework and in all cases accompanied by human,
animal, and mechanical familiars.
