Omug's statewide "You Don't Know Mac!"
Event Day returns in 2010

CORVALLIS -- After an unplanned, prolonged sabbatical, the Oregon MacPioneers User Group (Omug) proudly announces that one of the finest statewide Apple Users Groups events ever created, the "You Don't Know Mac!" (YDKM) Event Day, will return in 2010.

The announcement coincides with Omug's 10th anniversary this month (November, 2009). The date and location of YDKM Event Day is still to be determined.

YDKM Event Day 2010 will be the 6th YDKM event. The annual YDKM Event Day brings together Oregon's 14 active community Macintosh User Groups (MUGs) in the spirit of user group celebration and for its famous "You Don't Know Mac!" on-stage, team trivia contest.

One of the unique and best features of YDKM Event Day is that it is hosted by a different Oregon MUG (or co-hosted) and in a different MUG town each year, thereby showcasing that group's membership, community and geography.

YDKM Event Day is a one-day event that incorporates:

  • A leaders "User Group Summit" brainstorm meeting
  • A leaders lunch or dinner
  • A YDKM Event Day printed program brochure
  • A local/statewide vendor Hall of Fame exhibit area
  • An Oregon MUGs resource and exhibit sharing area
  • An Apple products history "museum"
  • An introduction of each Oregon MUG by their leaders
  • A 2-3 hour on-stage team trivia contest (which blends in audience participation and prizes) hosted by a special guest celebrity master of ceremonies (MC)
  • A Sponsors Hall of Fame (online)
  • A prizes raffle for attendees (ticket purchase)
  • An audience-driven Q&A of our guest MC
  • Donated prizes for all participating MUG teams
  • Take-home "goodies" bag for all attendees

Since the first YDKM in 1999 in Corvallis, our statewide event has been hosted in Newport, Portland/Vancouver, Bend, and Canyonville. Omug and our Oregon user groups have been blessed with special appearances as YDKM Event Day MCs by the likes of Craig Hickman, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Garr Reynolds, Guy Kawasaki and Andy Ihnatko.

Created in 1999, the statewide Apple Users Group, Omug, serves several community user group purposes, but its main thrust is to serve as a communication-oriented, collaborative and supportive hub for our statewide community of registered Apple Users Groups, who voluntarily participate. Throughout each year, and for the past decade, Omug has shared its resources and efforts to foster and improve participating Oregon MUGs.
