A special "fireside chat" brought to you by Omug and AshMUG (thanks also to SOU)

This event was presented free, and in the spirit of Apple User Groups.

Our huge thanks to this Guy:

Post event recap by Omug:
|
It's worth repeating. We said this once to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, when he flew up to Oregon to be our MC at our statewide user group event: "The most precious thing you can give someone is their time. We want to thank you for taking some time with us tonight." And so we say also to Guy Kawasaki.
Tuesday night, Guy took an hour out of his busy family and business life to visit AshMUG, our Oregon MUGs, Southern Oregon University students, and online viewers (via live webcast). And from his home, no less. He gave us a very warm and friendly "fireside chat", gloved a lot of questions with the grace of a hockey goalie, and spread some business wisdom around, too.

We've posted a web gallery of screen captures from the live webcast. AshMUG may make a highlights video clip available at a later date; if so, we'll post a link to it here, too.
Oh, and AshMUG, you made us Oregon MUGs proud. Although this is just ONE thing Apple User Groups can do, join one near you to Apple like "the rest of us." |

Guy Kawasaki Bio
(brief version; our words, not his):
Apple legend, popular entrepreneur, venture capitalist, author and blogger: Guy Kawasaki understands business.
Guy is the managing director of Garage Technology Ventures and co-founder of the all-everything news aggregation site, Alltop.com. He is also a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine. Previously an Apple Fellow at Apple Computer, Inc., Guy has shared his bumps and bruises wisdom through 9 books, including The Art of the Start, Rules For Revolutionaries, and How To Drive Your Competition Crazy. His latest book is Reality Check: The Irreverent Guide to Outsmarting, Outmanaging, and Outmarketing Your Competition.
Guy keeps us up to date on his life online, too, via his website, blog site and through some flash-in-the-pan site called Twitter.com (where he has a following the size of a small country). He can often be seen playing hockey in sunny California.

Warm up to Guy before the webcast:
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Macintosh.
Check out Guy's blog page on the reunion (including photos and a few video clips) of the original Macintosh development team in January.
Although we did this 4 years ago, here is Omug's "20 Questions With Guy."

About AshMUG
AshMUG, a community Apple User Group, has been serving the Macintosh user community in and around Ashland, Oregon since 2001.
AshMUG meets monthly on the second Tuesday at the Ashland Community Hospital. Along with general Apple, Mac, iPod and iPhone support among our membership and workshop/presentations, we maintain an active problem-solving discussion list, with archived answers, as well as a lending library of books and some hardware. We support Apple/Macintosh users in the Southern Oregon area in their quest for continued learning about all things Apple. Come join us -- we have a lot of fun!
About the Oregon MacPioneers User Group (Omug)
Omug was established in 1999 to serve as a statewide Apple User Group (also called Macintosh User Groups, or MUGs) helping other Oregon community MUGs. Omug serves as a physical community group and as a online digital hub for all of our groups -- Omug does the latter for no charge or fee; all Oregon MUGs registered with Apple's User Group Program tap into Omug's support on each group's initiative.
Omug and all our other Oregon groups are examples of the spirit of community MUGs across the nation (and in other countries). Find, visit, then join a MUG near you and discover for yourself what teamwork and Apple loyalty can do:
