Locating Trains Out Of Upper MI:
There are many railroads out of the area that are well worth visiting, here is a breif listing of some RR's and locations: 1)DuluthMN/SuperiorWI is a great place to locate BNSF, UP, CN, CP and DMIR action. Saunders is a Hot Spot. 2)MilwaukeeWI has a very large Union Pacific Yard, and an Amtrak station, with some decent locations to watch. 3)DetroitMI is good for CSX, CP, NS, CN and Amtrak. Plymouth has a busy district. 4)AlpenaMI for the Lake State RR, of which I do not know much about. Tracks right down one of the streets in town though. 4) DurandMI for CP, CSX, UP, ex Conrail, not sure of locations. Anyhow there is a brief rundown of some areas of interest outside the U.P. Detroit is probably actually too far for a reasonable day, but does have a lot of action.
Known RR Radio Frequencies: BNSF1 161.100, BNSF2 161.160 (Superior Area); CSX1 160.230, CSX Plymouth 161.370 (Detroit Area);
