E&LS Operations: Starting from Channing, MI the E&LS has a northbound train Monday-Thursday and Saturday at about 0800, working the line up to Stone Container in Ontonagon and then back to Channing. Stops are sometimes made at Sidnaw when the cars are loaded, and a few other siding of which I do not know. There is a switch job that goes on duty in the evening at Channing, at 1800 perhaps. Sometimes they bring the train to Kingsford for the Southbound crew, which supposedly works Sunday-Friday 0800, and goes to Crivitz and back. There they meet with the E&LS northbound out of Green Bay which may work Oconto Falls on the Way(Also Sunday-Friday), and the Menominee switcher job Monday-Friday (1300 estimated meet time). The Menominee switcher works the Menominee-Marinette area on weekdays, many customers in the area. Ther center of operations is Wells, MI where they have a paint and repair facility, and a local job that works most weekdays. Sometimes they use the #300 Baldwin, but it is common to see an SD-9 in the area. Ther known active fleet are 5 SD-9's (#1220-1224), GP-38's (#400 in Orange, and #402 in ex-Conrail paint), a Baldwin RS-12(I think) #300 ELS Orange, ex Soo Geep #700(?) and SW switcher #8. They store cars for other companies on the Sidnaw-Nestoria line, Wells-Channing line, and the Channing-Republic Line. There are other operations that I do not know of but as the information comes available to me, I will update it. Want railfanning assistance, Email Me
