Wysz's Guide to Valentine's Day

Fact: I know almost nothing about Valentine's Day. I can't even remember if it's January 15th or February 15th. It may not be on the 15th at all. Therefore, I suggest that you go elsewhere for Valentine's Day information.

If you're looking for more general information about the meaning, history, and celebration of Valentine's Day, start with Wikipedia's Valentine's Day article.

Valentine's Day Gifts

If you want to show someone that you love them, the easiest way is usually to buy them something. These are my suggestions, because I get commission on some stuff:

1. Use the "it's all relative" strategy and convince her that you could be worse. How much worse? You could be me. I'm so bad that they wrote a book about me and 49 of my peers. I'm Boyfriend #1 (aka "Boyfriendster") in 50 Boyfriends Worse Than Yours by Justin Racz. It's a really funny fictional book that should give your girlfriend a laugh. Just make sure she doesn't name you #51.

2. Teddy bears are cute. Cute is good. Click here to buy.

3. Everyone likes music. At the turn of the century, the mixtape became obsolete and burned CDs were the new way to force your music upon your significant other in the form of an inexpensive homemade gift.

Just a few years after hand-labeled CD-Rs became popular gifts, the iTunes Music Store has taken the gift of music to the next level. Minutes before your date, you can log into the store and email your special someone a gift certificate to the store, so they can choose exactly what they want. If you have time, you can even print it out and slip it in the card. You did remember to buy a card, right? If you're the sentimental type, don't worry, you can also give a specific playlist instead of a monetary amount. Just create a new playlist, drag in tracks from the Music Store, and click on the arrow next to the playlist's name. Choose "Give Playlist" and follow the instructions.
