
ROUNDTOWN BASSMASTERS TOURNAMENT RULES
2007 (Revised)
1. All tournaments will be scheduled and directed by the tournament committee. Selection of dates and places will be decided by the club membership according to, but not limited to, the recommendations of the tournament committee.
2. Questions arising from infractions or interpretations of tournament rules and all protests shall be heard and resolved by the tournament committee. Any contestants wishing to protest must do so within thirty (30) minutes following the day=s check-in time.
3. All participants in club tournaments (except invitational tournaments), must be a member in good standing.
4. Licenses and Fees - It is the responsibility of each participant to provide fishing and boating licenses as necessary to obey all laws.
5. Good sportsmanship is paramount. Consideration at all times for the rights of other contestants must be displayed by everyone.
6. All point tournaments will be on a Adraw your partner@ basis. No member may fish with the same partner more than once a tournament year until roster rotation is complete.
7. Non boater's fees. Local tournaments will be $20. Out of state, Lake Erie, or Ohio River tournaments $30 per day. Fees are to be paid to the tournament director in the morning before launching. Tournament director will then distribute the non boater fees collected to the appropriate boaters. Expenses for the tournament can be shared by the two individuals in the boat.
8. Contestants (or a designee) for club tournaments must sign up at the club meeting prior to the tournament. If not, there is a $20 extra fee at the ramp.
9. If you sign up for a tournament and you cannot fish, you must notify the tournament director 24 hours before the tournament.
10. If a boat is not rated for 35 h.p. or higher, or the boater indicates he may wish to leave early, the non-boater has the right to decline the boat and draw another one.
11. All fishing must be done from boats. No trailering of boats from one location to other will be permitted unless otherwise stated before the start of the tournament. All contestants must leave the designated starting point by boat and return by boat unless trailering is allowed. No contestants will be permitted to fish within 50 yard of another boat without permission of the contestants fishing from that location.
12. While the combustion engine is running, a Coast Guard approved life jacket must be worn and securely fastened. Kill switches are required on all boats and is fasten to the driver while engine is running.
13. Only casting, spin casting, or spinning tackle with artificial bait may be used. Pork type rinds, chunks or strips are permitted. Trolling of bait is prohibited. Only one line per contestant may be in the water at any given time.
14. Each contestant in the boat has a choice of the fishing location 50% of the time, including operation of the rolling motor with subsequent liability.
15. Only largemouth, smallmouth or Kentucky spotted bass, twelve (12) inches or larger will be permitted. A contestant having more than the legal limit in his possession will be disqualified.
16. All live fish become the property of the club and will be disposed of as directed by the tournament committee.
17. Contestants who have fish and wish to leave early may score points by using the AGolden Rule@ for fish weight. The contestant must find a contestant in another boat to verify the weight before leaving.
18. Tournament winner shall be determined by total weight of fish weighed to one hundredth of a pound, less any penalties. Five fish limit. One point shall be awarded per hundredth of a pound (.10) plus one tenth (.10) for each live fish that is weighed. Penalties: .25 (1/4 of a pound) will be deducted for each dead fish weighed. Contestants who fail to appear at check-in point on time will be penalized 1% of total weight for each minute they are late, maximum, 25%. Contestants more than thirty minutes will lose all credit for the day. Boat and motor problems will not be a valid excuse for late arrivals; however, a contestant who assists a boat in distress will not be penalized in the event of late arrival at the check-in point. A measuring device shall be provided at the check-in point and all fish will be checked for the minimum limit for the lake before being weighed. Fish will be measured with mouth closed to tail compressed. Any bass under the lake limit shall not be weighed. For each bass that measures more than 1/8" under the lake limit, one pound (1.00) will be subtracted from the contestant=s final weight. This is the formula for determining the winner for each tournament. The total points for best eight tournaments will determine the year-end standings.
19. Check-in for tournament is 30 minutes prior to start time. The tournament may be started by any member if the designated starting time has passed.
20. The informal and voluntary contribution to a side pot for the largest bass and or 10 pound pot will be Permitted. All side pots will be paid prior to the start of the tournament.
21. All monies collected will be deposited in the club treasury and used as directed by the club.
22. Tournament rules can only be changed in the October, November, December, January, February meetings after written proposal has been presented and voted into effect.
