Logic board code names
(model# is based on Japanese model)
Snow&Tell
(68040) 630,588
Codyceps(PPC603+PDS) 53xx,62xx,53xx,63xx (except 6360,6300/160)
Alchemy(PPC603+PCI) 54xx,64xx,6360,6300/160
Gazelle(PPC603+PCI:2nd generation) 55xx,65xx,20th
These logic boards have same form factor.
(But some connector are not mounted on the 20th's logic board)

Definition of modified ColorClassic
CC (with original L/B)

CC,CCII,Performa250,275
Mystic
CC with 575 logic board
PowerMystic
Mystic with Apple Processor Upgrade Card
(incl. Daystar PowerCard601 66/80,100 or
Sonnet Plesto PPC/LC)
Takky
CC with Snow&Tell, Codyceps, Alchemy, or Gazelle.

Examples
CC(13")
Mystic(13")
Mystic(VGA)
Takky040/33
Takky603/180
TakkyG3/400(Alchemy)
TakkyG3/400(Gazelle)
TakkyG3/500
This definition is popular in CCSCC,
because it is easy to recognize your CC correctly.
The notation "PowerCC" may not be clear
whether it is 'PowerMystic' or 'Takky(with PowerPC)'.

Two ways to get 640x480 resolution
with ColorClassic

(0)12" mode(original)
Resolution 512x384 (CCII 560x384)
Horizontal frequency 24.48kHz
(Horizontal Deflecting Scan Voltage +60V)
Vertical frequency 60.15kHz

(1)13" mode(also called Hi-Res mode)
Resolution
640x480
Horizontal frequency 35.0kHz
(Horizontal Deflecting Voltage after modification +84V)
Vertical frequency 66.67kHz
good point
less flicker
bad point
need high HDV (horizontal deflecting voltage)

(2)VGA mode
Resolution
640x480
Horizontal frequency 31.5kHz
(Horizontal Deflecting Voltage after modification +68.4V)
Vertical frequency 60.0kHz
good point
less HDV (horizontal deflecting voltage)
bad point
This mod is not obtained with original-CC.

If your CC is Mystic or Takky, you should take VGA mode modification.
I strongly recommend this.
60V to 84V (40%up!!!!!)
60V to 68.4V (14%up)

Although they may look the same, the difference is obvious.
13" mode with CC is more severe to the analog board than VGA mode.
The analog board of CC is precious.
Please value it!!!

Two steps of 640x480 modification

(Step.1) raise horizontal deflecting voltage

High frequency tends to need high deflecting voltage.
http://www2.osk.3web.ne.jp/~hirotac/mystic-road-f/display-mode.html
(the 3rd paragraph)

(Step.2) set the monitor sense line
The original-CC has a 10" color built-in monitor.
It has the ability of 12" mode.
The monitor sense line is set to 12" mode with original-CC.
But you give the ability of Hi-Res monitor or VGA monitor to the built-in monitor at Step.1.
You have to deceive the logic board!!
The logic board considers as if the connected monitor is Hi-Res monitor or VGA monitor.

Where are the monitor sense lines with CC?

(See table "Wiring to Analog Board".)

(the 2nd paragraph. This is an example modification on analog board)

Actual modification (briefly)

13" mode
(Step.1)

Sparate 8pin at ZP1
Connect 8pin to 10pin
(Step.2)
There are two types of logic board.
[option1](with J78,79)
[option2](without J78,79)
http://www.geocities.com/edakoda/
(See page7. This is an example modification on analog board)

VGA mode
(Step.1)

Sparate 8pin at ZP1
Connect 8pin to 12pin
(Step.2)
Make sense ID0 open.
And connect sense ID1&2.
There are three options.
(option a)
You can seal tapes on the terminals which correspond to ID0,1,2
at the logic board edge connector.
And connect the ID1,2 on the logic board.
http://gabezing.sytes.net/SVGA2.html
(This is an example of modification on logic board)
(option b)You can cut wires which correspond to ID0,1,2 at the flat cable.
And connect the wires which correspond to ID1,2.
http://kanchan.hn.org/mysticvga.html
http://member.nifty.ne.jp/frogeye/connector.html
(These are examples of modification on flat cable)
(option c)You can also do it at analog board.

(Theis is an example of modification on analog board)

modification you done result
horizontal deflecting voltage monitor sense line resolution burden to analog board evaluation my comment
68.4V 13" It is not displayed correctly.* light - reject
68.4V VGA 640x480 light A+ recommend
84V 13" 640x480 heavy B
84V VGA 640x480* heavy B useless high voltage

*probably

P.S. There is a possibility 800x600 (SVGA mode).
The SVGA setting of monitor sense line is same as VGA setting.
Here is my trial(Horizontal deflecting voltage:68.4V).
