One in a million

You know the situation: companies A and B announce that they are going to merge on day X. Someone eventually gets around to trying to register the domain name (or not) and someone has serendipitously already registered it. (Usually on day X + 1 or 2 hours, but depending on how leaky the insider trading laws are, sometimes day X - 1, 2 or even ...)

Well, it happened to Citigroup in the UK and even though Park J described the One in a Million case as controversial, his Lordship granted Citigroup summary judgment against an IT security company that registered citigroup.co.uk shortly after the merger was announced.

IPKat reports and wonders why an IT security company wanted to register the domain name, here.

Of course, DownUnder CSR had to deal with a concerned shareholder, branding and security consultant and the late Hill J had little trouble here.
