Tallahasse to St. George Island

The Drive from Tallahassee, Florida to St. George Island, Florida

About 2 pm, we left Tallahassee on Florida 319, driving south to the Gulf coast. On the coast itself, I began to see some new plants - those palms with creeping stems start to show up in the understory, and even the occasional banana in some front yards. 319 goes to the coast, then turns west. After leaving Eastpoint, there is a turnoff that goes to St. George Island. There is a long bridge (and a very nice nice new one is nearly completed) that takes you to the island, which is a long thin barrier island running paralell to the coast. The town of St. George Island is in the center of the island, real near to the bridge. Our condominium is about 5 miles east, right on the beach and near to the state park. About 5:30, Geoff and Philip arrived in Geoff's car.
