Flax line twisted into a skein. This is the way good quality line comes when you purchase it. Notice the "flaxen" color, and that it really does look like human hair. It feels more like a horses tail, but should not feel brittle. When stretched out the fiber is between 3-4 foot in lenghth. which makes it necessary to use a distaff when spinning it. However, it also makes it very very strong and durable. (Unlike the chemically processed linen that is commercially available as linen cloth.)
