Notice the variation in color. I used commercial dye so that I could control the color more precisely. And indeed, the variation is not caused by the different dye lots (of which there were only three), but are caused by the differences in the pretreatment of the wool. I scoured each skein as I finished spinning it, in order to set the twist. This meant that some of the skeins sat "in the grease" for months longer than the earliest skeins. I should have processed all the skeins at the same time.
