Violent Hypocrites

I can't help but be amused by rap "artists". These jokers praise God in one line, then turn around and talk about violently doing another person harm in the next. Hypocrites, all of them. If you've evil then stick to that message. Don't do the "I'm gonna shoot you, then kill you, then shoot up....but all praise God!" thing. You can't have your gat and shoot it too. You're either a thug or you're not. If you're a thug, and you believe in an afterlife, take it from a relatively intelligent guy...I have a feeling that the pearly gates are not going to be very open to you. Dante's Inferno would be a good read for some of these "artists". If the bible won't work for them, perhaps Inferno will.

Cold as it seems, the more I read the lyrics of these "artists" the less I care about them as human beings. "I'm a product of my environment," they scream. So are we all, but some of us took charge of our lives and evolved out of our respective circumstances and rose above the coarse grime of our ugly surrounds to make something of ourselves. Glorifying violence only begets violence. You're doing a disservice to your weak-minded audience that can't think for themselves and is easily swayed by your hateful lyrics.

Don't shed a tear for these people while they're in jail. Follow the links and see what put them there. For such "God fearing" people they sure do some hideous things to others.

I'm no bible thumper. I'm not even very religious. The idea of cross-referencing rappers and God came to me one night while lifting at the gym. The guy watching the store at night often plays this gangsta crap that's riddled with cursing and violence. At times these rappers would throw in the word "God" and that got the wheels turning. It's not the fact that these jokers are committing any sort of blasphemy or anything like that. It's their hypocritical actions that make me cringe. Often these "artists" question whether or not what they're doing on the streets is the morally correct thing. If they're smart enough to do this, then they obviously have the mental capacity to arrive at the correct answer, but in every case they fail to answer their own question then amazingly forget that it was ever an issue and quickly get back to talking about killing people, doing various drugs and glamorizing a negative stereotype.

While researching this topic and reading lyrics I'm amazed at times that these people somehow made it through our public educational system (or did they?). I'm also surprised at the level of violence in the lyrics. If I were a parent I'd have some serious problems with my kid listening to this garbage. It's far worse than anything Marilyn Manson or (insert your favorite scapegoat band) could ever put out. These reactionaries should take note. And before you jump on the "he's a bigot!" bandwagon, I'm not a racist (unlike some of these "artists"), I'm not prejudiced towards any group, and I don't suffer from any sort of superiority complex. I deal with people on an individual basis. Like the song says, "love see no color". That's the way I live my life. In this entry I'm simply making an observation. If it's flawed, then it's flawed. I'm not saying in any way that my views are 100% correct. They're simply observations, nothing more. I'm sure you could make a case for rock'n'rollers/God, and if so by all means please go ahead. I'd be an interesting read. As for this, interpret the following as you will. I've limited my Artist/God equation to those "artists" that mention God in their songs and are in jail on violent charges.

While reading these lyrics, keep in mind how violent the words are, how hypocritical the artists are and at times how contradictory their messages tend to be. Do these rappers ever proofread their work?

As a side note: Running these lyrics through my spell checker nearly killed my computer. I have never seen so many red underlines and green grammar indicators before…
