Lit Cigarette Igniting Fire On Freeway

This is dedicated to those who toss lit cigarettes out of their car windows:

Take a look at the following statistics of an actual California fire and see if you’d like to be financially or criminally responsible if you caused this fire.

Fire Statistics Deaths.........................................25
Injuries............................….................................150
Single Family Dwellings Destroyed...............2,843
Single Family Dwellings Damaged................193
Apartment Units Destroyed...............................433
Total Living Units Damaged or Destroyed.....3,469
Total Acreage Burned by the Fire...................1,520
Fire Perimeter......................................................5.25 Miles
Estimated Dollar Fire Loss..............................$1,537,000,000

Look at the dollar amount of the above fire. If you flicked a cigarette out of a car causing a fire like this, I hope the cigarette was worth it.

Further information and guilt trips can be found here.

It’s self-centered, ignorant, stupid people like you who cause fires such as the one I encountered on the 15 South this afternoon. You, who caused this fire not only backed up freeway traffic for miles, but also (and more importantly) endangered the lives of the firemen who were called to respond to the huge brushfire that you ignited.

Congrats, asshat. I hope you fall in a well and die. You and your kind need to start using your ash trays.

For those of you slow on the uptake, keep this in mind: the public can anonymously report imbeciles like you by dialing 1-800-NO-SMOKE. In our own little fascist way, perhaps we can get losers like you some face time with Johnny Law. Would that be enough to make you change your ways?

I'm sorry if I'm coming off a bit heavy-handed here, but having been directly involved in the Cedar fire of 2003 (which was the 2nd largest fire in California history) and having neighbors burnt out of house and home, there's only so much I can take. Little things like not throwing lit cigarette butts out of car windows can mean the difference between an ordinary day and one that can completely and utterly shatter lives. I only wish you people who do such things would think before you act...but I guess that's asking too much, isn't it?

As soon as I saw this, I knew traffic would soon be coming to a stop

Two lanes of the freeway were closed down

103 degree weather + lit cigarette = total dumbass

The heat from this fire could easily be felt inside the car
