WtB?
has aired on CKUT 90.3 FM for over two years and was started by Matthew
McFarlane. We are a founding member of the non-pop international network
and official broadcaster of the Canadian Electroacoustic Community. Below you will find the bios of
producer and hosts as well as notes from past shows. I apologize for any inaccuracies or errors here. This
is primarily for information on the radio show, not to be read as academic
truths! Hopefully over time I will gather a database of
information.
PRODUCER – Matthew McFarlane
Since starting the show, Matthew has gone on to absolutely
love the medium of radio and he has completed documentary for both WtB? and for
CBC Radio One and Two.
Matthew now acts as producer of the show. He has freelanced for The Arts Today, In Performance and Out of the Blue. He also writes for the GlennGould and Musicworks magazines. Matthew teaches the cello to a wonderful fleet of students
ranging in age from five to forty and conducts the orchestras of Suzuki
Beaurepaire in the western end of Montréal.

Eliot Handelman is a composer/theorist mostly interested in machine-generated mind, listening simulations, faking music of the past by machine (AI), composing kinematic musical animation (a style he is still trying to get right), and is writing a book on the future of music as mind-numbing electronic spaces that rupture the ego boundary. He studied composition in West Berlin with Isang Yun and got a PhD from Princeton in 1991.
