"Public Consultation"
Where: Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, France
What: An exhibit within the Traversées Exposition
Who: The artist Melik Ohanian with assistance from computer
scientist Bill Clancey, coordinated by the curator Hans-Ulrich
Obrist
When: November 2001

Why #1: A collaboration between an artist and a scientist,
to create a place for provocatively relating the intellect and
visual imagination.

Why #2: A place for the public to consult with a scientist
about the nature of Mars and why we are going there. Sitting inside
the Mars room, we are surrounded by the reality of the place that
fills our imagination.

Why #3: A recorded conversation in two languages with simultaneous
translation, reenacted on tape. Subsequently, during the months
of the exposition, the recorded images and voices fill the room
with our questions and aspirations.
