I heard about Ooma from my son-in-law after I'd told him I was pissed with AT&T and was switching over to TimeWarner broadband phone. I went online and was amazed how great this concept sounded: no monthly charges for phone service (unless you want Premier Service - $12.99/Month), and total control over your phone usage. The only investment is the device that makes it all happen - a one-time $229.00 at Best Buy and other retailers. To make a long story short, I cancelled my TimeWarner order, went out and bought the Ooma core and free scout unit, set it up that night, went online and got my new phone number (I was able to transfer my old number later for a mere $40.00) and I was ready to go! The sound is great, computer doesn't have to be on, you can integrate ALL of your wireless phones, ya got all the perks like free US long distance, caller ID, voicemail, etc. and best of all: NO RIPOFF MONTHLY PHONE BILL! We have a free 60 day trial of Premier, which we're keeping, and it is the ultimate scenario. Not only can you have two separate phone numbers for free, you can blacklist telemarketers, forward calls to your cell phone, change your own ID when you make calls, and a whole lot more. Folks, it's awesome and I highly recommend giving Ooma a try. Ya won't regret it!

After about a year of writing, I've finished and published my newest novel, See Tom Run . I'm very excited about this mystery/thriller and those who have read it so far have said it is "easily my best!" Here is the synopsis: Tom Grayson returns home from a quick errand to discover that his family and guests have all mysteriously disappeared. Prior to this discovery, he has been tormented with guilt by a secret that only he and a former lover share. Although the two have witnessed a serious crime that remains unsolved, Tom has refused to report the incident since doing so would jeopardize everything he holds dear in life: his wife, kids, and his career as a college art professor. In a desperate search to find his family, Tom embarks on a journey that can only be described as nightmarish and surreal. He eventually meets Erin Myers, an intriguing young woman with a disturbing past. When it becomes increasingly clear that Tom may lose something even more precious than his comfortable existence, his priorities in life shift dramatically. But will it be too late for him to do anything about it? The book is already available for purchase here . I've also created a free podcast of the novel on iTunes . I'm anxious to hear what you think of it, so please let me know your comments!

I had a feeling that someday this would happen after I witnessed the demise of Polaroid SX-70 film in March of last year. What I didn't expect then was for this to happen "across the board" and so soon! By deciding to no longer make ANY of their instant films, Polaroid has in essence made obsolete a number of art forms including the image transfer, the emulsion lift and many other alternative process applications that require the use of these films. Furthermore, the instant print that so many photographers STILL rely on for light testing and settings, quick snapshots for clients, passport prints, etc, etc will now have to say goodbye forever to these applications. This is devastating news for many of us who have embraced instant photography for years and still use it in our art making. As a photography teacher who has already had to phase out SX-70 manipulations for my students in my classes, I will no longer be able to include any of the other Polaroid processes in my curriculum. I am also out of luck for my own art as well. The only good news (if you can call it that) is that Polaroid is "seeking a partner to acquire licensing rights for its instant film, in hopes that another firm will continue making the film to supply Polaroid enthusiasts." This means that there is a slim chance that someone with a lot of money might be willing to bail us all out of this predicament. There is a petition you can sign to encourage Polaroid to continue making these films available by clicking here .I would also like to make a public plea for anyone who might know of some Polaroid "enthusiasts" who might be interested in this undertaking to contact me. Maybe, with enough support we can save our art and take over where Polaroid has left off. Please contact me if you have any info at scott@scottwittenburg.com You can read the entire press release here

I wrote The Edge back in 1983 while I was living in NYC. This sci-fi novel was my very first attempt at writing fiction and has basically been laying around in a box while I've been working on getting my newer books published. I eventually decided to resurrect the original manuscript, which had actually been typed out on an old Royal typewriter! I scanned the original pages into my Mac and began the arduous re-editing process. The result is this sort of vague pre-cursor to Katherine's Prophecy in a round-about way. (I can assure you that the story and plot are totally different, though!)I hope that some of you out there will give this "old classic" a read. It's available now at Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com . Please go here to read the synopsis, download a preview and/or purchase. I'm really excited about this book and can't wait to hear what my readers have to say about it!
