Creative. That’s what friends and clients say about Taty (Tatyana) Drozdova. In fact, there are very few types of arts and crafts that she did not try.  She has mastered many of them. Arts and crafts have been always her favorite hobbies. “When I was little, I used to make gifts for my family. When I grew up, I sold my crafts at the craft fairs to save for my first car,”  recalls Taty.

It was just natural, that after more than 20 years of pursuing a scientific and business careers, Taty decided to turn her love for arts and crafts into full-time job. In April 2003, she registered her business, which she named Mon Plaisir. She specializes in making decorative items for the office, home, or
garden in stained glass, mosaic tile, and mixed media. Taty explains that her love for these media is due to their endless combinations of color, texture, opacity, and dimension. “By making my crafts, I endeavor into a wonderful journey of materializing the images born in my mind and maturing into functional and decorative art. Each item is made with love and high-quality workmanship. I want my friends and clients to enjoy owning my art, as much as I enjoy making it.”

Taty holds two master’s degrees, and is teaching Program Management disciplines at Keller Graduate School of Management. She believes that her intellectually challenging professor’s assignments and the emotionally-inspired creativity of her crafts are a wonderful combination for feeling happy and accomplished in life.
MON PLAISIR
The history of Mon Plaisir (which is French for “my pleasure”) goes back to 17th century Russia, during the reign of Peter the Great. Peter the Great (1672–1725), tsar of Russia for forty-three years, was a dramatic, appealing, and unconventional character.

He was a big, strong man (6' 8'') who, unlike previous Russian monarchs, was not afraid of physical labor. He was an experienced army officer and navy admiral, a skillful shipbuilder, and an amazingly energetic person.

During his reign, Peter undertook extensive reforms:  creating a regular army
and navy, subjugating the Church to the state, and introducing new administrative and territorial divisions of the country. He paid particular attention to the development of science. He was a far-sighted and skillful diplomat, as well as a talented military leader.  Under Peter's rule, Russia became a great European nation. In 1721, he proclaimed Russia an empire and was accorded the title of Emperor of All Russia, Great Father of the Fatherland, and "the Great."

Mon Plaisir was Peter’s private retreat. This small palace is located in Petergoff, which is few miles from St. Petersburg. It was known as Peter’s favorite “child.” The tzar HIMSELF chose the location, made its blueprints, and named it. Peter filled the palace with his favorite things, which spoke to guests about his tastes and habits. The palace was mostly used for Peter’s private “amusement” parties, and it was his pleasure to be among the objects and people he really enjoyed.

The choice of my company’s name was not arbitrary. I decided on Mon Plaisir since it has a similar meaning to me as the Mon Plaisir palace had to Peter. It is my private retreat into the creative world. I find great pleasure in designing and making my art, and this is reflected in their high-quality craftsmanship and uniqueness.
