I will miss my first meeting of “Expanding Circle” on July 10. I do hope you will have a good time together and keep the fire of renewal burning. I am listing a few “items’ for your thought and consideration.
1. Annual Conference addressed the “welcoming of gay families” and gay individuals into our church fellowship. There was sometimes heated exchange, but overall, I was pleased with the recommendation passed. I wish to share this story with you sometime.
2. I met last week with pastors of Knox Presbyterian, Christ the King, and Bellermine Chapel. Father Bollman among them, expressed a desire to “announce” our gatherings for each coming month. There was a consensus among the group that we have people in all of our congregations who would benefit by sharing. Thus I would like to send them word of our meetings from August on!
3. I will help any way I can to provide spokespersons in a variety of areas. From Conference I came away pretty aware of some inspirational speakers.
4. There is a letter I received from the National Council of Churches about the Fundamentalist right. I will make copies and get them to the July meeting, ‘fyi.’
5. I believe the Amos group from time to time will be interested in our activities. They are having a “meet the candidates night” on August 16 at Christ the King. It is an invitation to all candidates for mayor. The questions will come from Amos and they will be about issues of social justice. We were asked to give it support.
6. Finally, I know of no group that feeds my hopes at Hyde Park as you do as a group.

God bless you on Sunday night.
