Snow!

Snow! Or, how I learned to
shovel out my living room.

It snowed. We have no roof on the addition -- but the weather held steadily clear and warm (for New Hampshire) so far, until now. Somehow this makes sense. It is New England, after all. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.

Elric got up the other morning, put on his boots and coat, and went out to shovel out the living room. Somehow that made sense, too.

This is actually the second snowfall we've had since waiting for the roof trusses to come in. The first snow was about 14 inches, with drifts up to two feet. The second snowfall was merely 8 or so inches, but it decided to spit freezing rain on top, so a nice crust formed. Pretty to look at in the sunlight, but a real bitch to shovel. Bruce loaned us a snowblower today, so we're fighting the battle with that -- in between letting it rest when the engine starts to smoke from pushing ice through its tines.

Are we having fun yet?

In other news, Dawn is readying herself for the holidays by stealing gifts meant for other cats. Here she is with a Chanukah catnip bag meant for Marla 's new cat -- if we can get it away from Dawn of the Glowing Eyes. Note how being held upside down doesn't seem to daunt her.

Happy holidays, everyone!
