Thursday, May 14

Afternoon/Early Evening ~ Arrive, check into rooms, explore the resort.   You may wish to have dinner in the Rafters Restaurant.   Please note that this meal is not part of our colloquium package.

7:30 PM ~ Welcome and opening reception. Gather in the Scarlet Oak room. After some opening announcements and introductions we'll move to the reception location.

 

Friday, May 15

FIELD EXPERIENCE IN INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC EDUCATION

BREAK (10:30 - 10:50)

12:00 - 1:30 ~ LUNCH AND BIRDS-OF-A-FEATHER DISCUSSIONS (Grab-N-Go lunch -- meet with your group anywhere inside or outside the lodge)

  • Topics for lunch discussions will be generated by colloquium participants throughout the colloquium.

AFTERNOON - Free Time: Continue lunchtime discussions, recreation, etc.

6:00 ~ Grillside Pavilion Barbecue

7:30 ~ TOTALLY FREE IMPROVISATION (is it possible?) led by Maud Hickey. Maud will lead participants in free improv exercises that she has found to be successful with kids and teachers alike. Bring your horn (or any object capable of making a sound). Let's play!"

8:30 ~ IMTE "Hidden" Talent Show - Ann Porter, Session Facilitator. Do you have a skill or talent that folks don't know about? Maybe you can say the alphabet backwards really fast while contorting your body, or perhaps you are a world class accordianist--whatever your special skill is--we'd love to have you share it with us (those with real talent to exhibit need not shy away either). Come one, come all to the IMTE "Hidden" Talent Show and surprise your friends or make some new ones! It's all about sharing and having fun.

 

Sunday, May 17

  • Great Books for Summer Reading/Great Music for Summer Listening. Bring a book and/or CD to share! Professional and pleasure reading/listening are fair game. We'll also chat about other topics that are on participants' minds.
  • Colloquium assessment
  • IMTE raffle drawing (must be present to win)
