Trumpet Tootin'

Here are some hand tips for the top tootin' trumpet players at SAS.

Sit up straight with trumpet slightly angled down. Arms are relaxed, out a bit, and not tucked into the body. Do not play at the floor! Bad Mr. White! See how the horn is not pointing down! Hold with your left like this. Notice the right hand pinky is not in the ring! Or you can hold it like this...whatever you prefer Your right hand thumb should be in between the first two valves Get that pinky out of the pinky ring!! Way to Go Mr. White! perfect embouchure! The mouthpiece is evenly divided between the lips BAD EMBOUCHURE! Don't smile to play high...this is bad! Please don't puff your cheeks. Only Mr. Dizzy Gilispie can do this!
