| The most surprising discovery is how automated everyday appliances are. This is an electronic bidet meant to clean refresh and relax your bottom after you relieve yourself. Problem is we can't read the Korean and don't know how to turn it off. They must be new in Korea because even the hotel management couldn't help us. A heated toilet seat in the middle of the night can really make you feel disoriented. |

Did you know you could do this much to your bottom? These are the options for operating the bidet. The TV commercial advertising this product shows a man and a woman, fully clothed in business suits, floating in the air with two jets of water squirting from the bottom of the screen onto their bottom. The couple, who never touch or communicate, smile with pleasure while we hear off the sound track "ohhh, ahhh, hmmm...". And the bidet comes in a variety of colours. |

Unlike many countries where finding a restroom becomes a journey of it's own, restrooms off the Korean highway stops are as prominent as the restaurants and shops. Many of us have confused them for shops. |

From the ultra electrified to the basic squatter. Yes this option is available to the adventurous. It's probably cheaper than a regular toilet and it works as efficiently. It flushes too! Not recommended for people with bad knees or baggy pants or flowing dresses. |

One rest stop had a small child and mother toilet in the same cubical. Women's washrooms include change tables. This urnal may seem out of place in a women's washroom but when you realize how convenient it is for a mother with a little son you realize how practical it is.

This is a men's rest room beside a freeway. Note the shine and the flowers. You may not always find a western style toilet but you will find all washrooms impeccably clean. Many are beautifully tiled in marble, doors in etched glass, plants (real and plastic) and well equipped with soap and paper. Toilets can be found at most tourist sites and they're all free. |
| This is also a men's rest room. Notice the two sink heights. Children are always considered in all aspects of life. It is now a regular activity for everyone to check out the rest rooms whether we have to go or not. We were rarely disappointed. |
