We're on a 6 hour bus trip to the south and west coast. Our destination is the city of Dohang. The road is a well maintained muli-lane divided, limited access freeway. There are several toll collection booths along the way.
Now THIS is a rest stop! Every few kilometers along the way there are these huge rest stops. There are compete restaurants, rest rooms and stores inside. They are accessible only from the freeway

It is hard to argue with the food at this rest stop. Every thing was so clean, tasty and well run.

The Posco steel Mill our first destination is a great surprise. I have visited steel mills in the United States. They are ugly, smelly affairs.

This is the front gate of the mill.

Everywhere inside the steel mill gate there are large park areas. steel Mills are usually a jumble of pipes. In this case many were hidden in trees a shrubs. The parks are formal and very well maintained. They're used by the employees and their families during the weekends.
The message from Posco steel was that if you do it right even a steel mill can be a positive, beautiful part of a community.
And then there is shopping. So many things and so little time.
Our hotel was very nice. The Korean attention to safety was gratifying. Fire extinguishers were in prominent evidence. Alarms, lighted escape routes and sprinkler systems were installed. Each room even had an emergency kit compete with a flashlight and survival / rescue supplies.
