22nd Reunion

I have been involved in Languages education all my teaching career and am currently Senior Curriculum Adviser, Community Languages with the NSW Department of Education and Training in Sydney, Australia. This means I am responsible for supporting the teaching and learning of community languages programs from Kindergarten through to Year 12.

Korean is one of 42 languages taught in NSW primary and secondary schools (4 primary schools, 45 high schools and 4 Saturday School of Community Languages Centres to over 2,000 students). There are also after school and weekend community schools where Korean is taught.

I work closely with a full time Korean consultant in our office who has been largely responsible for my interest in Korea and Korean culture and I have learnt a lot through my involvement with the Korean Education Office and their activities to support the teaching of Korean in NSW. I am especially excited to visit Korea soon after their success in the World Cup to experience some of the euphoria we saw at the matches on Australian television.
