Mary Borgeson
I
am currently teaching English as a Second Language to Korean students
at Washington Elementary School in Champaign Illinois. I was so pleased
to be invited to attend this program in which the focus was to learn about
Korean Culture, education, aesthetics and history.
This program has been wonderful in that I will be able to take all that I have learned back to my school and my community. In Champaign Urbana we have a large Korean Community. Westview Elementary School also has a large Korean population and St. Mary's Church in Champaign has many, many Korean families. Visiting Gyungju ancient city was the absolute highlight of my experience. The magnificent temples and statues of the Buddha was an experience I will treasure forever. I cannot thank enough the Korean people for their kindness, patience and warmth. I am looking forward to continuing to learn more about Korea and its wonderful people.
