Meeting Attendance



Total meeting attendance increased over 2003. Attendance declined over the holiday season as people frequently have full schedules. About 5 people each meeting were first-times.



Basic Attendance Statistics

327 individuals attended the BiPolar Bears in 2004. For the first time, over 1,000 people attended our group. 2004 continued the trend toward increased consumer attendance. In actual numbers, participation by family members decreased in 2004. There was a minor increase in mental health professionals, other groups, and people who declined to identify themselves.I

Number of Visits per Participant

This pie chart shows that most (51%) of our partricipants attended only once in 2003. Six indiduals attended more than 30 times (3 in 2003).



Participants by Residence

Half the participants (consumers and others) come from Phoenix, but people come from all over the Phoenix area.


Participation by Sex

Totals and subcategories were essentially 50%/50% male and female over the two years

Consumers and Others by Age Group

Consumers participating in our support group were most likely in their 30s and 40s. Other individuals, primarily family members, tended to be somewhat older,



Participants by Year Diagnosed


Participants come from a wide level of experience with th disorder. A significant number of people attend the meeting soon after diagnosis and/or release from the hospital. Most participants, however, have been dealing with the disorder for a longer period of time and have significant experiences and information about Depression and the BiPolar Disorder.



Consumers by Educational Achievement


This as a new category of data collected. Some inviduals may list data in an ambigous manner so you can't tell the different between "not disclosed" or "Less than High School" The data appears to indicated that many consumers take morew than usual time to complete an eductional goal. (Note that this data is less reliable than other data collected for this report)
