I come from a society where you are judged by your material wealth and wonder why I succumb to the urge to conform to these standards. I am exploring the loss of traditional values such as sustainability and responsibilities in modern society. By using deposable materials and consumer excess, I am reflecting on this loss through reinterpretation: from mass production to handcrafted object.
My early training at Heatherley and Byam Shaw was in the discipline of fine art, video and installation work. At Chelsea my interest turned to public art and design, and finally my finally in my MA year I discovered the love of textiles. My aim is to bridge the gap between fashion, design and art in objects that I make bringing with them a story of their history.
