Spirit and Life 4.0

Here stands the launch of the new (but improved?) Spirit and Life 4.0.

Some of you will perhaps recall the launch of version 3.0 when I switched to Blosxom. I liked the way it worked very much. I loved hosting it at home, from my own network. But perhaps predictably enough, I ran into a security problem with the .cgi script -- an inability to prevent comment spam-bots from leaving links to undesirable and offensive web sites. Worse yet, my trusty G4/400 (aka Josiah) began to fail on me, crashing two to three times per day.

And to put the icing on the cybercake, my wireless broadband ISP started having a series of problems with their radios. I started losing my IP assignment several times a day, and hence my inability to even browse and send email -- let alone serve a site. Fortunately just last week, my honorable and persistent ISP tech guys came and set me up with a brand new stronger radio here at home. So now, my upstream is back where it should be! Well, stable anyway. I haven't lost my IP address since they set up my new radio.

Old Josiah seems like he might be on his last legs, though. I hate to see him falter like that -- he was my first G4, my first Mac tower. He's been a tower of creativity and reliability for over five years now. I don't think he can stand up to serving Spirit and Life anymore, at least not right now.

So I've determined to let Apple serve my pages from my dotMac service. The hard address for those who might prefer it is:

homepage.mac.com/warnermac/blogwavestudio/

Otherwise, the old standard referrer address will be reset in the next day or two point right here to

spiritandlife.n3.net

I've missed blogging, and the banter. Thanks for stopping back by the blog!
