My Month of Anniversarizing

Sorry for the unexpected hiatus there, folks. June came upon us with a flurry of anniversary festivities, including:

125th Anniversary of Zion Lutheran School -- June 15th
10th Anniversary of my ordination -- June 19th
15th Anniversary of my marriage to Kim -- June 23rd
10th Anniversary of ordination for Rev. Michael Liese -- June 27th

And all this followed by the annual and obligatory house full of visitors during the weeks preceding and following, with the exception of those few days while we travelled to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Brimfield, IL for my buddy Pr. Liese's 10th Anniversary in the Ministry. He came here to preach for my 10th, and I went there to preach for his.

All in all, it was a great many weeks of celebrating, interrupted only by the sad passing of two dear old saints here at Zion, whose bodies we laid to rest even as we rejoiced at their souls entering fully into that eternal life and full participation in those eternal gifts given at their baptisms.

I had great hopes of posting the audio of the sermon Pastor Liese delivered here on June 27th, as I count it easily among the top 10 I've heard in my life. If I manage yet to track down the tape and convert it to mp3, then I will still do so as time allows.

In other news, I got to meet my sister's new boyfriend Adam. The two of them came to visit for a few days as he made arrangements to transfer to nearby Wayne State College. She's been hoping to attend classes at WSC since she was a junior in high school, and somewhat to my surprise ended up signing up for classes there too. If all goes well at our voters' meeting here tonight (as I fully expect it will), she'll be staying with us for the next few years and commuting to Wayne to complete her teaching degree.
