Literacy Golf outing seeks clubs’ support, offers PGA tourney
tickets
The
District Literacy Committee will be holding our annual golf tourney to raise
needed funds to support our ongoing efforts with the Community Assisted Adult
Reader program as well as other literacy efforts around the world.
We would ask for your clubs support in several ways:
ü Communicate and encourage
club members to register and play in the tourney.
ü Ask community members to
register and play in the tourney. This would be a good way to identify
potential members.
ü Directly support the tourney
by sponsoring a hole or taking an ad in our event booklet.
ü Ask community businesses to
take an ad or sponsor the tourney. Sponsorship opportunities are identified in
the brochure.
ü Donate items that can be used in our raffle or give
away at the tourney.
As you know the only funding the Literacy Committee
receives for our programs is that which we raise through events such as this.
Your support will be greatly appreciated by all those we are helping to improve
their lives through improved literacy. We currently sponsor as a district more
than 30 adults with tutoring support. As well some of the funds raised will be
used to support the Books for the World program.
For more information contact Paul Terwilliger,
district literacy chair at 655-2985 (home) or 575-4327 (cell).
Lawnmower Raffle & Pancake Breakfast ticket
sales in full force
Paul Frickey
and Bob Brown officially kicked off our lawnmower ticket raffle Saturday at the
P&C.
Our club is again offering
contestants a choice of $1,000 cash or a John Deere lawnmower. The tractor this year features an
automatic transmission. Pre-sales
are the key to successs so let’s all hit the pavement
and make sure we can beat last year’s record-breaking sale!
The Skaneateles Rotary Club has
distributed a batch of pancake breakfast tickets to our Club. We are again, as in the past, been
asked to sell as many tickets as we can in advance of the breakfast. Unlike evening club members,
there is no formal obligation to sell our lot of tickets, however, given how
instrumental the evening club was and has been in in
making our Winterfest successful, let’s show our
gratitude by offering all the assistance we can to make this the best pancake
breakfast ever!
