Golfers capture Skin at District’s Literacy
Golf outing in Auburn
Golfers
did our club proud at the annual District Literacy Golf Tournament Friday, June
6.
Dave
Cutten, John Paddock, Tom Seeley were joined by Rich
Avery, Executive Director of the Hiawatha Seaway Council and prospective F-M
Rotarian at the annual tournament, held this year at Lakeview Golf & Country
Club in Auburn.
Thanks
to a true team effort, our club finished just one stroke off the lead, with a
final score of 67. The trophy will
pass through Skaneateles, however as our Rotary Brethren from the Evening Club
finished atop the leaderboard with a score of
66. Taking home the prestigious
Trophy were evening Club Rotarians Todd May, Timer Whittingham, Steve Swartz & Robin Jowaisas.
The
day was not a complete loss for our fearsome foursome, however. Our team captured a skin for the best score
on one of the holes (your author has sadly, forgotten which hole). For those not familiar with golf terms,
a skin is where a predetermined amount is awarded for the best score on a
particular hole. For our efforts,
the team was awarded $60.
All
proceeds from the event go toward Rotary District 7150 Literacy
Committees efforts to bring awareness to, and addressing, the adult literacy
problems in our communities.
Members of
Sunrise Rotary’s Literacy Golf Tournament Team (l-r) Tom Seeley, John Paddock,
Dave Cutten and Rich Avery, executive director of the
Hiawatha Seaway Council.
