July means its time to start thinking about Winterfest 2009
While
the sun is shining and our backs are not against the wall, the time is now to
start thinking about Winterfest 2009.
Our
club discussed plans for our club’s largest fund-raiser at the July assembly.
Among
the ideas discussed included creating a “Taste of Skaneateles” event, possibly
under a tent on the lawn at the Sherwood, and moving the snow sculpture contest
to Clift Park downtown.
A
number of businesses and/or organizations were also identified to be contacted
early to ensure their participation, including Skaneateles Artisans, Dan
Riordan at the Blue water, Anyela’s Winery, the
Skaneateles Library Association, Baltimore Woods, the Skaneateles Ski Hill, the
new Fire House, The Creamery and the owners of the Seitz Building.
The
future of the craft fair was also discussed with most thinking we should
continue to offer this event as long as crafters continue to sign up.
Also
discussed was the mailing of a Save the Date card in late August or early
September. Following the meeting,
Marion Krauter visited the Chamber of Commerce office
and learned that the Chamber will provide mailing labels. The Chamber recommended sending the
cards out in early September, just after the Labor Day parade.
