News & Notes

Joint service projects requested

John Hennessy of the evening club visited us last week to discuss the possibility of working together on service projects in the town and village.

John pointed to the Centennial Project at the Conservation area and the bathrooms under the gazebo in Clift Park as examples of successful projects we have completed working together.  John suggested possibly appointing a liaison to work together to identify and coordinate such projects locally.

While John did not have one specific project in mind, he offered many examples of projects that could be accomplished together.   Some examples include:

n    Charlie Major Nature Trail Clean-up

n    Peter Vargason Trail work (at Butters Farms)

n    Dug-Out project at Austin Park baseball field

n    High School and Middle School court yard projects

n    Conservation Area clean up or other project

n    Site work at Reynolds property

n    Skaneateles Community Center Atrium/Entranceway site work

n    Skaneateles Lake water quality project

n    Adopt pocket park along outlet between Old Stone Mill and Genesee Street

n    Adopt-a-Highway

John Paddock spoke in support of such an arrangement and reminded the group that we are a family of Rotarians and should work together as much and as often as we can.

Club Secretary John Rooney, who also serves as Chair of our Service Committee will follow up with John Hennessy and report back on the progress of any future projects.
