The Wounded, Some Walking,
Some Not:
Jack Priest, coming home from
Community General on Tuesday the 17th maybe was celebrating St.
Pat’s more than he should have – taking a spill and winding up with 5
stitches in the back of his head and 2 broken ribs. He’d love a call on his cell (263.4213).
Chuck Williams is home from St. Camillus
with his new knee. A bit laid up but no place like
home (685.6077).
Marian Overstrom (685.4813) continues to
make progress and has been spotted at several area restaurants, now if Lee
would just show up for dinner.
Jim Messenger long suffering severe back
pain is now painless and back as a dinner participant. Great
news at long last (685.6810).
Dick & Mary Lee Kokosa have
had some over purification of their water system, causing some knock down
discomfort (685.6061).
2009
Service Project: Surely, beginning in April we will commence work on
the ball diamond safety screening at Austin Park. As a point of interest and
history, Jim Messenger along with
six Skaneateles JC’s “cleared” the area now known as Austin Park for
recreational use in Skaneateles; that would have been over 40 years ago! Peter Adams and David Lee will head up
this year’s Austin Park spring project.
Last Week’s Program: Sandy Hartman with the National Pork Board / New York Pork Producers
Cooperative and Cornell Cooperative Extension discussed the pork industry and
raising hogs. A pretty interesting and most educating eye opener on where the
bacon comes from. An attentive audience had multiple questions.
This Week’s Program: Jacque McConnaghy & Pat Snyder will
speak about the Skaneateles Outreach Program, Robin Jowaisas to do the introductions.
Benediction & Atonement: Jack Hyatt, our typical Yankee fan “no show”, hopefully will be
“the show” and collect some fines & happy $$$ for Sue Keefe’s treasury this Thursday. Bill Conole has graciously offered to
lead off our meeting with a spring worthy invocation.
Next Week’s Program: His Honor the Mayor, Bob Green will once again join us and
present a “state of the village” message as he looks forward to beginning a
third successive term.
Ad Hoc Committee: With Duane Weaver & Robin Jowaisas, John O’Sullivan presented
some thoughts and assessments for better coordinating our Foundation and Club
efforts. More details and an explanation to all at next Club
Assembly two weeks from this Thursday, April 9.
Board Bullet Points: Will have some board recap
comments in next week’s Skantarian after suspended meeting is completed this
week on March 26.
Sweet 16: Sometimes overlooked &
unknown in the east, Spokane, Washington’s Gonzaga
Zags once again prove their national
worthiness! This Friday it’s
the Zags vs. the #1 overall seed UNC!!
Q? - What “one” NBA great played his college ball at
Gonzaga? A. -
Next Week. Hint - A U.S.
city bears his name.
