Standing O’Vation Entry: John O’Sullivan
and Dale Zabel received a standing “O’” as they made their post-invocation dining
room entry last Thursday, straight from a nearby wine tasting event, red wines
in hand; excellent were the reviews, expensive were the fines. “L”
Noteworthy: Jack Hyatt’s older sister, Eleanor, is gravely ill. Nancy & Jack left Tuesday morning to be
with her in Eagle Bay. They surely
would appreciate our calls, prayers, and thoughts.
March 12 Meeting: We
will meet at Rosalie’s March 12, same time, 6:30 P.M., come early, and
enjoy libations together beforehand.
Signup sheets at upcoming Sherwood meetings. There were “5“ great suggested locations overall; Joe’s
Pasta, Blue Water, Colonial Lodge, and the Legion being the other four. Tough
choices all.
Also on March 12, Skaneateles
Sunrise Rotary will meet at the new Town Square hardware center for
their meeting and a guided tour. Tom Seeley
has invited us to join them, 7 A.M. next Thursday.
Benediction & Atonement: This week
Karen
Ververka will begin our meeting with what always is a heartfelt invocation.
Seb Bentivegna has offered to be a
“fine” master this week and suggested that none would be assessed more than a
dollar; he alternately did not suggest a lesser assessment.
Jack Hyatt & Friends last week promised to handle an old time “Fining” at
a future date, or a good “Flock Fleecing” as Mr. O’ used to say. Thank you Jack; Red
Sox fans beware the A-Roid reaper.
This Week: Mike Ferro,
from the Auburn Rotary Club will discuss his new venture, “Reva Rollerdrome.”
Next Week: Bill Conole
and an architect will be with us to present plans for the Lourdes Camp remodel.
February 19th Attendance &

Rotarians at last week’s meeting (attendance 53%). Missing:

Club Assembly and Board Meeting
Bullet Points: The first matter of business was
election of the 09-10 officers and board members. After some “minor” grumbling
and commentary, all nominees were elected unanimously. “J”
Bullet Points:
1. Nearly $8,500 in operating funds,
with district & international dues yet to be paid Sue Keefe reported. There was brief
discussion of transferring some funds to the Foundation. Solvency is good; it
is money in the bank!
2. Two solid, potential service
projects, Skaneateles Western Gateway Signage, and community ball diamond
protective screening are each on the table. Interest in either; contact Doug Rutan at rutan@welchallyn.com.
3. Rotary District 7150 IS spending
$10,000 for P.R. radio advertising - 75% in Syracuse & 25% in Utica
markets.
4. There is “grant” money from District
7150 available. We will look into
obtaining some for local projects.
5. SRC is proceeding with year 2 of our
district’s “Adult Literacy” initiative, addressing specific local individuals. Skip Plank has been working hard to keep this most
beneficial local emphasis program on track.
6. Several Worthy Cause requests and
bequeathments were addressed and made by board.
7. Our club has the opportunity to
sponsor Skaneateles resident Wilford Doner as a member of the 2009 Group Study Exchange team to
Brazil. “Bill”
Doner & Henry MacDonald (Auburn Rotary) were dinner guests on the 19th.
“Confidence is the
child of optimism.”
