SRC Snow Birds: Ruth and Peter Anderson left Monday for their annual retreat on St. Simons Island. Georgia. They will be gone for 6 weeks. Linda and Danny Roche also departed for some warmth (south Florida) last Friday. No word on their return. Sandy Rademacher headed for her winter getaway at the very end of January. Mary & Bill Stevens also head south at the end of this week. Has to be something more than just Florida orange juice, or maybe just a lack of the black & white of snow & ice?
Rumor has it June & Ward Vuillemot will be back by the end of this month. Any time “away” in winter is a good time, but January ‘09 was a killer, real winter! Ward, you timed it perfectly.
Marna & Skip Plank are in the D.C. area where their daughter Jennifer is expecting her second baby, and another boy.
Seb Bentivegna is planning a trip to SoCal in March as well as an annual trip to Belgium to see his son and family.
Benediction & Atonement: Our membership chair and soon to be president elect Roberta Williams will share some thoughts with us as we begin our Valentine’s dinner. In honor of our guests this week, Atonement will be handled in a bit of an alternative manner.
Rotary District #7150 Radio: Our Rotary district has contracted with various radio stations to run ads, about $10,000 worth total, between Syracuse (75%) and Utica (25%) markets. I do not know the objective or specifics, but am trying to obtain that information and will pass it on, hopefully within a week.
March 12 Meeting Location: We will look into an alternate meeting location and are hopeful of having some alternatives by this week’s meeting. Joe’s Pasta Garage, Rosalie’s, and the Hilltop have been mentioned. If you have a suggestion or preference, let us hear it. The Sherwood will be closed that week.
Last Week’s Program: Bruno de Melo, an inbound YE exchange student from Joilo Pinheriro, Brazil gave a nice, clear talk about his home town, family, and among other things his family’s cattle ranch. Bruno’s mother is a banker, his father a dentist and a Rotarian of many years. Bruno has two younger sisters (whom he claims are very beautiful).
This Week’s Program: Annual Valentine Dinner -- Come early; enjoy some libations - dinner at 6:30 (+/-).
Next Week’s Program: February 19 - Board Meeting @ 5 p.m. / Club Assembly Meeting @ 6:30 p.m. - Rotarians only. Some information on a spring service project the Town of Skaneateles has asked for some help on; “The Western Gateway.” Please come with questions, comments, suggestions, critiques.

WinterFest: Tom Seeley says that preliminary results show there was $4600 net usable income generated at this year’s event. This was accomplished with about 20 Rotary volunteers who donated on average, under ½ a day each. He again has thanked SRC for its help and the number of us who participated. Tom plans to review complete results with us shortly along with some thoughts for improvement in 2010.
