January 8 Board Meeting Bullet
Points:
1.
Approval of $100 from Operating Funds for Auburn
Rotary to assist in cost of a GSE event at Holiday Inn, Auburn in September
’08.
2.
Discussed assisting Skaneateles Sunrise Rotary with
individual member participation at their annual WinterFest (1.31.09). Tom Seeley attended Club Assembly and
requested our participation.
3.
Christmas fundraiser review including funds
disbursements. The 2008 event was
the most successful Holiday fundraiser we have ever had. What a perfect conclusion to a great
Rotary year.
Skaneateles
Outreach
$ 3425
Skaneateles
Ecumenical Council 3425
Spafford Food Pantry
1150
Salvation Army 500
Total $

4.
SRC Worthy Cause, Skaneateles Rotary Foundation
reporting and procedure changes and possible improvements were discussed with
swifter and a more clear understanding in mind . We
will designate a three-person team to make an assessment and proposal for the
SRC & SRF. This could be to
stay the current course or changes involving both sets of bylaws (SRC &
SRF). Their findings will be independent
and not binding.
5.
There is a new, District #7150 Water Project,
supported by ADG Jim Gascon with
outlined information in the January 15 Skantarian. Look for Jim’s letter and information; attached
with this mailing.
6.
A SRF year-end treasury accounting was presented by
trustee president Bill Stevens and by trustee treasurer Duane Weaver at the
Club Assembly. Sue was unable to
make either meeting and will present SRC numbers in February.
7.
The board voted to appropriate YE sponsorship money
for a possible inbound student from Australia if host families can be found.
8.
Nominating Committee for 09-10 board and chairpersons
expects to have a slate of candidates for election by February’s Club Assembly
meeting.
9.
Lastly, Skaneateles Rotarian and past president Dick Whalen resigned citing travel and
conflicting interests that has prevented proper participation. We wish Dick and
his family the best possible future!
This Week’s Program: Lori Ruhlman,
& YE inbound will provide talks.
No more details at this time, but between Charley’s smiling confidence, Miguel’s impish grin and Bruno’s uncanny wit we are sure to be
in for some great entrainment.
Benediction
& Atonement: None other than Peter Anderson will offer some words of
wisdom as we look towards a guard change in Washington D.C. on next
Tuesday. Brad McLennan will be the first to supervise Happy Dollars, Fines
& Assessments for the first time since December 4! Or 6 weeks of
reprieve. Sue Keefe is looking and asking for a
big take!
Next Week’s
Program: NYS
Assemblyman Brian Kolb, representing the 129th Congressional
District. See attached background provided by Skip Plank. Should be
a great program Skip!
Speakers
Programs: Many future programs will be outlined a
week or two in advance by Skip so we are sure all of us are aware of the
variety and quality presenters we have lined up.
Of Note: By our 1.22 meeting, we will name an ad hoc committee of
three members to look at the functionality and communication between the SRC
& SRF. The objective: To make
any recommendations they believe will improve the working process of taking in
money from fundraisers and donations and distributing it to our supported
worthy causes swiftly. Equally
important: How to best keep the membership appraised of all disbursements.
District
#7150 Water Project: See information sent by
